My Favorite Quote...Day 4 #SWMBlogChallenge

“But the most exciting, challenging and significant relationship of all is the one you have with yourself. And if you can find someone to love the you you love, well, that's just fabulous.”--Carrie Bradshaw, Sex and the City

A quote that has resonated with me since I heard it is the one above from the writers of Sex and the City. It is the final line of the original series said by Carrie Bradshaw. I think it is super important to love yourself and take care of yourself and if you find someone that loves you for YOU, then that is wonderful. I think it truly speaks to how we do not need another person to make us happy, but when we do find someone to love, a life partner, husband or wife, then it makes life all the merrier, but it is not necessary to lead a happy, healthy, successful life.

  1. Love this quote!!! I've been thinking a lot about love relationships lately because it is almost the seventh anniversary between me and my beloved man. We have an unconventional relationship - very busy people who have chosen to love each other even with the hurdles and problems along the way... and the fact I have loved myself and stood for myself... well, it kept us together (even when we were apart for a month or two or three at a time as we determined once again whether "we" was worth it.) Yes, We usually has a WERE but in this case the "We" is a one, if that makes sense.

I'm grateful when women have the strength to stand for themselves, to love themselves, when society sometimes teaches us to give ourselves up. I've ridden that train and I won't again.

Thanks, Amanda - for the reminder.

    1. Thanks Julie! I think it resonated with me because I spent most of my life single and even though now I have finally found a significant other, my boyfriend, I still know that if something were to happen and things were to go awry I could survive without him. My mom said that probably the reason our relationship has lasted this long is that I had learned how to be alone and how to be independent and do my own thing. My boyfriend said that I am the first woman who wasn't always asking where he was, who he was with, what he was doing, and why he wasn't with me. I let him do his own thing and I did my own thing and had enough confidence in the we part of the relationship. Now that we live together it is still mostly the same as far as we do our own things, but we also make sure to spend time together like dinner if we are both at home and cooking for each other and we watch a couple of television shows together as a couple.
